God always amazes me when He does something out of the ordinary. I received a very unexpected and very special gift from the Lord the other day that blessed me so greatly and I thought I would share with you all about it.
My eldest son and my daughter-in-love are expecting their first baby. My son called me the other day and one of the things we were discussing were baby names. We shared various names we liked or loved with one another. We also discussed our thoughts on unique names, ones we thought were strong biblical names, and about the definition or meaning behind the name. We even talked about unusual names that we have heard parents have named their child such as Abcd!
I once again found myself apologizing to him for having named him after his father. I got pregnant with him at the age of 13 and I had named him after his father in hopes that he would not be taken from me because of my age. His name, Mina, is often mistaken for being a female’s name. In his father’s culture it can be for a male or female. From what I was told it means March the month he and his father was born in.
I went on to tell my son how I love unique names and I also shared a story with him that had happened just a few years prior to becoming pregnant with him. At about the age of 10, I began babysitting my younger siblings as well as for others occasionally to earn some cash. I loved taking care of the little ones so I would often dream about the day I would become a mother myself and what I would name my children. Many times, while I would lay out on the grass in my front yard while staring into the clear blue skies and think that I would one day name one of my children Sky. I just love the beauty of clear blue skies! I had never shared that with anyone. It was just internal dialogue.
I wasn’t expecting what came next in our conversation to happen at all! After I finished telling him my story, he went on to tell me how a woman had told him that in Turkish his name means Sky!!! I looked it up and sure enough there it was! I never knew! And I also found out that it means Sky Blue!!! Unbelievable! My heart was so filled with joy! I just couldn’t believe it!
It was over 30 years ago that I had that very secret desire in my heart & only 3 days ago that I learned that God had not only heard it but also had answered it. I just never knew it! God is so incredibly amazing and loving, isn’t He?!?!?
Well, I know that when God does incredible like that there has to be even more to it! My husband and I have been trying to conceive a baby for some time. We have been standing on several His promises within His Word and to be honest, I had become a little discouraged about it not happening yet. God used this story as a loving reminder that He knows the desires of my heart and that in His timing it too shall come to pass.
He then took me to His Word, using the keyword “sky”, and reminded me of one of His promises found in Genesis 15:5-6.
5 Then the Lord took Abram outside and said to him, “Look up into the sky and count the stars if you can. That’s how many descendants you will have!” 6 And Abram believed the Lord, and the Lord counted him as righteous because of his faith.
I can’t help but exclaim… Oh Lord who am I that you are mindful of me? I am utterly in awe of You! I surely don’t deserve it, but I gladly receive it & give You all the glory! I will continue to keep looking to Him…looking up into the sky and reminding myself of His promises to me.
I know from experience that sharing stories like this can help others recognize that God is always there working in our lives even when we don’t know it or think He is! Now I know for sure if unexpected surprises like this are taking place in my life they are happening in yours too! Please share a testimony by commenting below. You don’t know who you will bless by doing so!
