According to John 4:23-24 God is seeking worshipers who will worship Him in Spirit & in Truth.
John 4:23-24 Amplified Bible (AMP)
23 A time will come, however, indeed it is already here, when the true (genuine) worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth (reality); for the Father is seeking just such people as these as His worshipers.
24 God is a Spirit (a spiritual Being) and those who worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth (reality).
Then in Hebrews 12:28-29 it tells us we need to serve & worship God acceptably and with reverence….
Hebrews 12:28-29 New King James Version (NKJV)
28 Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptablywithreverence and godly fear.
29 For our God is a consuming fire.
Hebrews 12:28-29 New International Version (NIV)
28 Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe,
29 for our “God is a consuming fire.”
We may think that what we are doing is right but we as Christians need to understand and know what God truly wants from us. It requires getting into His Word and meditating on what it has to say. God’s Word has the final say…the final authority. What is worship? What does it mean to reverence God? Sometimes it helps to look into the deeper meaning of the words we read.
